Republicans Deserve Republican Primaries
As Republican voters prepare to head to the polls in the upcoming primary, they will once again see two familiar advisory questions on the ballot: party registration and partisan school board elections.
For several election cycles now, voters in Lexington County and across South Carolina have overwhelmingly supported both measures. Yet despite that mandate, our incumbent representative continues to sit on the sidelines.
Legislation to establish party registration and closed Republican primaries remains stalled in Columbia because career politicians refuse to act.
Meanwhile, the State Senate has already passed legislation to make Lexington County school board elections partisan, a commonsense reform that would bring transparency and accountability to our local elections. The only thing standing in the way of that bill moving forward is approval from Rep. Wooten, chairman of the Lexington County legislative delegation. He has refused to act.
These issues are in the Republican Party platform.
Lexington County and District 69 are conservative communities built on strong values and common sense. We deserve a representative who will fight for those values, not ignore the clear will of the people.
